A Cafe Racer is Born
The Royal Enfield 500cc Historic Café Racer
If you somehow found your way to this page, you are obviously a Cafe Racer fan, or at least interested in Enfield’s. Well so am I. A little while ago I attended a race meeting at Zwartkops Race Way, South Africa and came across a friendly group of chaps that all belong to an interest group named the “South African Historic Motorcycle Group” these chaps are incredible. They maintain, repair and run motorcycles predating the end of December 1975. To make a long story short, I did not see any 500cc Enfield’s participating, so I thought that should be rectified. Yes, an Enfield is not the most expensive piece of kit on the road, nor does it have an impeccable road racing history but does that mean that we should not see one on the track? Now you know where I am going with this…. Let’s get one on the track as soon as possible.
